Do you ever forget why you're arguing in the first place?

LC and I went to another suburb to check out the homes. I fell in love with one house. It wasn't the typical stone and wood houses that are popping up everywhere in my metropolitan area. It looked like a dollhouse with a porch. It was built 10 years ago but reminded me of an older home during times already passed. LC did NOT like the outside, but it did sit on half an acre. Not to mention, it was BEAUTIFULLY landscaped. I'm talking MAJOR capital letters landscaped. It had crepe myrtles, cypress, fountains, etc. I mean really pretty! We did find a house that both of us loved. The only drawback is the backyard. It's on a steep hill. It would need a retaining wall. Not really what I pictured for the backyard:( However, after driving around through the neighborhood, alot of the homes are on a hill or the backyard goes downward or they don't have much of a backyard. The house itself is in move-in condition:) Exactly what I like!!! We looked at a bunch of other houses on Saturday. On the way home, LC and I got into a tiff. I got mad b/c he thought the suburb was too far from his work, and he wanted to get a house in another older suburb with TONS of wood paneling. ICK! The dollhouse which I loved, cried over, and even got into a minor argument our first one over him not liking the house or was it over the drive or the area?? I couldn't remember once we started arguing. I had an only child moment where I refused to talk to him while in the car; because, hey, it's not like I could run and slam the door to my room and lock out the world. No, I refused to talk, and I just cried and sulked while watching out the window. Then, it turned into being upset all afternoon, over what? You got me. It was just once I was upset and wanted to be right, I lost all sight to whatever I was upset about and just stayed upset for the sake of being upset b/c he made me upset in the first place. You know what I mean. But, it sucked because not only was I upset and had forgotten the main reason I was upset, but I woke up yesterday with puffy eyes. I never cease to amaze myself. So, on Sunday, again, we went to the older suburb to look at previously viewed house and another one not far from there. The older home would need all the paneling ripped out or at least painted. A wall would need to be knocked out in the kitchen. The bathroom isn't 1950s uber small but small in today's standards. That could not really be fixed except turning the big den into a huge master suite which means HUGE $$$$ spent. Not worth my time, but LC is a DIY kinda guy. Then, we looked at the other older home. Granted, it was a Tudor home which is not my fave, but it was nice on the outside. It needed some work but not like the wood panel house. This house would need a wall knocked out to lose the bedroom next to the master to make a master suite. Still talking mucho dinero. After looking at second older home, LC realized that it wouldn't take him much longer to get to work from nice suburb than the older suburb and a move-in ready house would probably require less money up front and doesn't take all of his sweet time renovating b/c I have to listen to that $hit and don't want to hear about it when something goes awry. So, we went to see the two other homes we liked in the newer suburb. And, after viewing the dollhouse again, I did still loooooove the yard, I, somehow, managed to miss the fact that it had popcorn ceilings (yuck), and it didn't have a formal dining room. It was kind of weird that you walked through the front door into a lovely great room and then right into the den/formal dining room (?) but right next to that area is the breakfast nook. So, it would have looked so weird to put a dining room table in the dining room which has an adjacent breakfast table. Like the tables would have been in somewhat of an L-shape. Weird. I guess I was so caught up in the landscaping, yard, and decor, I failed to see major things I didn't like. After looking at more than 2 or 3 houses on Saturday, they all seemed to run together. If you've made it this far through my rambling, LC is going to put an offer on the house with the hill=) Yay, keep your fingers crossed!!!!

I totally get upset & stay that way sometimes for the sake of being upset. Oh well, what can we do, right? Anyway - sounds like you are seeing lots of lovely houses - I'm sure you'll come across a perfect match for the two of you. It sounds like you have great taste though - you both want lots of character. Good luck to you both!!

I too have gotten upset and stayed upset only to forget what I was upset about. We are all entitled to those moments. I think it is all part of being a woman. :) Good luck on the house! I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

I know what you mean. I have been there. The only problem is I am stubborn so I never want to give in. Happy House Hunting...
