Show Us Your Life: All About Makeup!

Don't forget to enter my Southern Living cookbooks giveaway here!!!!!

Today, I'm going to link up with Kelly's Korner for what I think is the first time!

Show Us Your Life: All About Makeup!

This is a GODSEND, I'm talking MIRACLE WORKER!!!! I have oily/combo skin, and my eyeshadow and liner will slide off like I've been on a 3 day binge or something. This stuff keeps my shadow and liner in place and seriously, if i don't wash my face [bad i know!] often i wake up in the morning and my eye makeup still looks fabulous. This is totally worth it!

For awhile I was wearing Make Up For Ever's HD foundation, but I wanted to try something new, and I'm really glad I did. This Tarte foundation is great if you oily/combo skin because the clay helps to absorb that oil. Does it make you have "normal" skin? No. But less oil is always okay for me. #thereisnosolutionforoilyskin
The only con for me is that it doesn't come in a lot of shades such as the HD foundation. So you might have to buy two colors to mix together if you're in between shades or play around with a bronzer.

Like Kelly, I really like the Naked palette. I too splurged when I got a gift card for Sephora or Ulta for Christmas or my birthday or something.

I usually use the Mac's eyeliner in stubborn brown when using the neutrals of the Naked palette. I also like this eyeliner because it enables me to draw a pretty clean precise line!

Nars blush in orgasm is awesome! It's a great neutral that looks good with UD's Naked or just to have a little color on your cheeks when you don't want to put on the "full face."
My other favorite eyeshadow is by Stila. It has lots of pigment and stays on all day with help of the primer potion above. I have hazel eyes, which really pop out when I wear purple shades such as plum. My 4 favorite Stila eyeshadow colors are barefoot contessa, grace, wheat, and kitten.

I use a plum shade of this Smashbox Always Sharp eyeliner. I'm still on the fence about it. Every time you twist the cap, the liner is sharpened. The first one I had still had quite a bit of liner in it, and the pencil broke off and wouldn't come out. Sephora exchanged it, and I'm just hoping that it was defective. Haven't had any problems out of the new one.

I saved the best for last! I love love love this Bobbi Brown blush in Pale Pink. It looks super bright, but I assure you it doesn't look like that. I love it!!! I happen to love Bobbi Brown products in general:)

Southern Women's Show

A couple of weeks ago, I went with my mother to the Southern Women's Show. I rarely buy much from these type of things, but it's always fun to see what's new and to "window" shop.

One of the local salons has a beauty school and had a booth at the show. They were doing hairstyles and makeup for free. Of course, I love all things girly, so in the chair, I sat:)

I feel like I lived in this outfit all winter. You have one of those outfits that's cute, you can just throw it on, and it's comfortable? That's how I feel about this one. A lightweight quilted vest by Old Navy, longsleeve Gap tee, and a Lilly Pulitzer murfee. SO EASY!

5 on Friday

Well, hello there, I haven't posted a 5 on Friday in a long time... December was just a crazy month for me!!!

1. New Year's Day---and how did I spend the first day of 2014? getting a makeover. what else. duh. ha! i told the MUA i wanted something glam, something night life, and she delivered. although, i'm still not sold on red lips. i feel like they make me look clownish, no?

2. Organization--- my stuff had been strewn all over the counter because one organizer just wasn't enough. i decided new year, new counter. so i bought another organizer in the same style and a jewelry holder thingy, i admit, at least it's organized chaos.

3. Art Deco Loooovvvveee---art deco anything? love. that style of jewelry is so in this year, and well, i bought these two years ago before the trend. so trendsetter of me;) ok, for real, i love any excuse to wear my wedding jewelry. it's kind of fancy schmancy so i can't just wear it with t-shirts and sperrys. i try to always incorporate it if the occasion calls for it. love love love this bracelet. i'm contemplating taking the pearl bracelet to a jeweler to get it sized so that it actually doesn't hang off my wrist. any readers done this? worth it---or just leave it be?

4. Bubble and Bling--- love love my JoJo Loves You bling earrings. they are big, i know. they are BIG AND SPARKLY, and that makes me love them even more. and, i love my bubble coat. the coat was a christmas present from the hubs. you see, he thinks it's silly to spend money on makeup and lilly and my hair, but he won't bat an eye to drop some cash on sporty type items. when he first suggested the calvin klein bubble down coat at costco (<----his fave store), i scoffed at it which resulted in him calling me a brat. not the first time that someone's called me a brat, so i will live. but whatevs. he suggested it a few more times when we went our weekly (or every other day) costco trip. and dolls, he wore me down. he wore me down to the point that i tried it on and agreed to said coat. however, i put my foot down when it came to black. the black just made me feel a la Missy Elliot circa 1998. you know, like this:

buutttttt, in his defense, i actuallly do love the coat. it's SUPER lightweight and seriously one of the warmest coats i own.

5. Yo, Teach---i'm ready to go back to school. ok, i'm sure i'll be regretting those words in say about a month and a half. but after two weeks off, i'm ready to get back to doing what i love---changing the world. ok, that last part was a joke, but i do like to think i make a *teensy* bit of difference in this world. i just came across this pic today. forgot i took it the day we got out from break. hard to imagine that 14 year olds like me. they don't like anyone except for justin beiber and instagram and texting much less a corny, old history teacher.  that my friends is why i teach. not for the affirmations that I ROCK, but simply for the lightbulbs i see go off. that moment when a kid is like yeah, i get it. and a little affirmation doesn't hurt! ;)

Black Friday Haul

I forgot to post my Black Friday haul. I kept it very minimal this year, and my mom bought half of it. I keep telling myself that IVF will be worth it...

Top Left: Sephora
Olek Henriksen Vitamin C wipes and some kind of face wash.--- been wanting to try these forever. They smell soooooooooo good.
Living Proof travel samples to throw in my travel bag,
Stila eyeshadows--one of the colors is one I already use and am almost out of. was a "needed" purchase:)
pack of brushes-came in a cute pink, glittery case
Murad Vitamin C serum-technically, this isn't Black Friday---used my VIB points to try this.
Top Right: New York & Company
brown---cowl neck sweater
pink/black-cute lace print that can be worn under a cardigan or by itself. has a bow that ties at neck
Bottom Left: Ulta
Two years in a row I've been lucky. I've gotten there hours after it opened and was still able to find an Urban Decay doorbuster discarded in a random place. Love my eyeshadow primer potion!!!!!!!! And I get to try it in the nude and shimmer color it comes in now.
a gold glitter Kabuki brush for my setting powder
a pack of brushes with a glittery case. sold on this b/c glitter is under plastic so it won't get everywhere:)
Bottom Right: JC Penney and Kohl's
Green pashmina at JCP for 4 BUCKS! I think it will be perfect to wear on St. Patty's Day!
sign from Kohl's says "A cluttered desk is a sign of genius" and well, my desk usually looks like a bomb went off on it, but it's clean when I leave school. So many papers, so many lesson plans, so little time...
One thing not pictured is because I'd already worn it by the time I got around to taking pictures. I have wanted and wanted this vest at Macy's, but with saving for IVF, there are no more $80 vests-- just because. Well, luckily, this was a doorbuster for $21.99, and my mum bought it for me. She's the BEST!

Five at Friday

[Here's my 5]

1. I'm SOOOOOOOO late to this one. I started my account sometime last year I think, but I only took one pic. Then, it was all the hype, and I just didn't get it. Nooooowwwww, I get it. And, I've succumbed. Sorry, friends if I've blown up your feed recently:) You can follow me by clicking the instagram button under my profile blurb, or you can search for me. username: southernbellejm
2. Coop----I LOOOOOVVVVVEEEEEE this new wrap for my etched core warmer. The rooster is a reddish brown color and it goes perfectly with our cherry colored cabinets and granite in the kitchen. So cute! I think I'm warming Skinny Dippin' here.
3. "Me" time---last weekend I worked a Junior League shift in the morning doing decorations for an event that night. Afterwards, I stopped by Sephora and got a mini makeover. Sadly, I no longer have "twenty-something" skin. It's that pathetic moment when you realize your powder is stuck in your frown lines:/ Lines...yeah, those weren't existent a few years ago. The MUA used Tarte's 12-hour clay foundation, and this is my face like 5 or 6 hours afterwards. Barely any shine, and my skin looks so smooth. I will confess she used some kind of NARS product to fill in the lines before applying primer. After using Benefit's Stay Flawless primer, she then applied the Tarte Foundation. I'm thinking as soon as my MUFE HD foundation runs out that I will switch to the Tarte. I was impressed:) I feel like I look goofy as all get out in this pic, but I wanted to show you no shine!
4. Mani-Pedi:))))) After Sephora, I headed to the nail salon that I frequent. If you are a local and are ever out in the burbs or as my friends call it "West Nashville" fyi i live in memphis, you should definitely check out Safety Nails. It's my favorite nail place. I decided to go dark since it's technically fall. The color is OPI's Black Cherry Chutney.
5. King's Simulation--- last week, I did a simulation in class in order for my students to understand how the colonists felt when they were unfairly taxed (think pre-revolutionary war). I sorted out over 1,000 m&m's for my students. It took forever, but they had a good time and totally got what I wanted them to. For example, all my desks have red chairs. One of the object cards the king pulled taxed any colonist who was sitting in a red chair which was all my students. They were SO upset, but in the end, they understood the point. Teaching social studies is a lot more fun than teaching grammar I will admit:)
