Have you ever tried these products?

I had a very quick skin consultation with my dermo's nurse last week. She recommended a line called Glytone for regular maintenance.

She, also, recommended Obagi for my melasma.

" Melasma
Melasma, also known as chloasma, appears as a blotchy, brownish pigmentation on the face that develops slowly and fades with time. The pigmentation is due to overproduction of melanin by the pigment cells, melanocytes.

Melasma / chloasma
What causes melasma?
There is a genetic predisposition to melasma. Triggers include:
Pregnancy – the pigment often fades a few months after delivery.
Hormonal contraceptives, including oral contraceptive pills and injected progesterone
Sun exposure
Scented or deodorant soaps, toiletries and cosmetics – a phototoxic reaction
Unknown factors, when it arises in apparently healthy, normal, non-pregnant women
Clinical features
Melasma usually affects women; only one in twenty affected individuals are male. It generally starts between the age of 30 and 40. It is more common in people that tan well or have naturally dark skin compared with those who have fair skin.
Melasma affects the forehead, cheeks and upper lips resulting in macules (freckle-like spots) and larger patches. Occasionally it spreads to involve the sides of the neck, and a similar condition may affect the shoulders and upper arms. Melasma is sometimes separated into epidermal (skin surface), dermal (deeper) and mixed types"

Just another little FYI, your birth control pill* can do this. My dermo's nurse said doctors do not stress enough to their patients this can happen. Also, the nurse said that they don't put the "avoid sun exposure or artificial light" stickers on your medicine. The damage to my face did not really start showing up until last year. There were a few spots. Now, it is WORSE. Have any of y'all tried these products or if any of you visitors, anonymous people, or anyone out there tried these products???? Feedback would be great=)

I have never tried these products, but I use the Mary Kay Time Wise line now. I LOVE it! It has made my skin softer, smoother, and my complexion looks really fresh and even. I feel like I don't even need foundation anymore. I think the biggest help in their skin care is the Microdermabrasion system that you do every 3 days. It is like liquid gold! I haven't been using it that long, so the full results aren't visible yet, but I still can tell I love it.

I think Pretty in Pink Megan uses Obagi. She did a post on it recently. I am linked to her blog, just go back a look for the post.

Hope this helps!

I have used Obagi before. It gets great reviews, but it dried out my skin too much. I had to stop. I already have really dry skin though.

My mother started using glytone after she had her eyes done a few years ago on recommendation from her plastic surgeon-she loves it! Very gentle.

I sell AVON and use our banishing cream for such spots that have shown up also due to birth control use. I had no idea that could happen, they have slowly started to fade with daily use. You can buy it for about 3.49 and if we have a money back guarantee. Check out my site to buy some.

I am bad about using products and I am getting older so I need them. Let us know if it works. I could use the help.

I haven't tried any of these, but I've heard good things about the Obagi line.

Thanks for your comments today - I always take sweaters or jackets with me to work because my office is usually freezing, too. I finally got a window office, though, and now that I'm getting some sun, I can stay a little warmer (yay!).

Hi there! I run a plastic surgery center, and I can personally recommend the OBAGI system it works phenomenally for melasma, rosacea, age/sun spots, freckles, and they also have an awesome acne system.

It will dry your skin for a short period of time, but it's whole rep is that it makes your skin self-moisturize.

Cute blog!

Two of my friends use Obagi and they have gorgeous skin at their age,38. I'm going to be meeting with a skin specialist for the anti-aging system with Obagi.
