Goodbye to a decade...

I realized after last year that new year's eve is often just a big disappointment. There are too many expectations. You either spend it waiting in line FOREVER for a drink, or blacked out from pre-partying too much in fear of waiting in said line for said drink. Last year, I did the former instead of the latter and wondered if maybe the latter might have been a somewhat better decision, but still I digress....

2009 has come and gone without a blink of an eye. This year has gone by so fast. I am not making any new year's resolutions this year. Who keeps those anyways? Just two weeks ago, I swore to myself that I would not allow my car to get so low on gas that the low fuel light comes on. I swore I'd get gas when it was down to a fourth of a tank. Um yeah, I rode the low fuel light all the way to work on Monday. So much for anytime resolutions. The thing about the new year is, it's new. You can make it what you wish. And my wish for this new year is to be comfortable in my own skin. I am 5'3", and 133 lbs. I will never be twig thin unless I diet, nor am I overweight. I am a normal size girl. I can wear anything ranging from a size 4 to an 8 depending on who designs it and what fabric it's made of. I do not work out and eat whatever I want. Some people work out just to be my size. Some people would love to be my size. My other wish for me is to get into the gym and exercise. Exercise not to lose weight, but exercise to get more energy and be toned. And if the weight happens to come off, well, I'm not going to complain.

Tonight we are just going over a friends house for the evening. No waiting for drinks but, that doesn't scratch the blackout option;) I guess I can only hope I don't do anything stupid. Ha! 2009 officially goes out with a bang. I found out I have to have a new transmission put into my Explorer today. I am so grateful I have such wonderful, giving parents who are buying my new transmission. I am so happy this year is hours away from being over. I'm ready to start fresh and anew. I wish you all a happy new year and traveling mercies to you. And, I'll leave you with the whole entire new year's eve song. Yes, there are more lines than "should old acquaintance be forgot/and never brought to mind/should old acquaintance be forgot/and old lang syne" that I would drunkely sing at the top of my lungs at midnight during college to only find myself drunkenly mumbling my way through the rest of the song because I had no idea what the other lyrics were. But hey, at midnight, who is really listening to what you are singing?!?!?!? Tehe.

Auld Lang Syne

Should old acquaintance be forgot,

and never brought to mind ?

Should old acquaintance be forgot,

and old lang syne ?

CHORUS:

For auld lang syne, my dear,

for auld lang syne,

we'll take a cup of kindness yet,

for auld lang syne.

And surely you'll buy your pint cup !

and surely I'll buy mine !

And we'll take a cup o' kindness yet,

for auld lang syne.

CHORUS

We two have run about the slopes,

and picked the daisies fine ;

But we've wandered many a weary foot,

since auld lang syne.

CHORUS

We two have paddled in the stream,

from morning sun till dine† ;

But seas between us broad have roared

since auld lang syne.

CHORUS

And there's a hand my trusty friend !

And give us a hand o' thine !

And we'll take a right good-will draught,

for auld lang syne.

I hope you have a fun NYE!! I loved the part of your post about your height and weight...it sounded like I was looking in the mirror. :) I was always a teeny gal and now...well...I'm still short, but not QUITE as skinny. I don't like to diet or work out either. BUT, I am trying.

Love your blog already and I just found it today! :)

Enjoy your New Year's Eve! We're keeping it low key as well (thank goodness!)

I'm going to run the Nashville half... you should do it! I'm not sure where Jess came up with our schedule, but I can find out. We're starting out slow because neither of us are big runners...

I always try to remind myself the same thing... there are people who would KILL to weigh what I weigh, just as i would KILL to weigh what you weigh! (although on my 5'10" frame I'm pretty sure I'd actually be dead if I only weighed 133 pounds, but you know what I mean!) :)

Happy New Year!!!

Hope you have a safe &happy new year. I've decided to not make resolutions this year since I never keep them. I want to just see where this year takes me.

And I actually just looked up the words to the song too b/c I never knew what they were. I was sick of just mumbling.

I hope you had a great NYE! And I totally agree about it being overrated, I think going out you always get the worst service on NYE and Valetntines day, and we watched the Ball drop in Times Square for New Year 2008, it was far more fun to watch it drop last night from the comfort of my living room!

I totally agree with you on NYE (loved the e-card). Sometimes I feel like the grinch of New Year's, not that I don't love being with friends but it's just so overrated and crazy sometimes!
