BFF's baby shower theme!

I'm not a big "fan" of themes in all reality. I mean I like themes like going with certain fonts for everything or colors and what not, but just not big on the "cartoonish" themes. I wanted to throw BFF a cutesy shower with sort of like this invitation below:
And then, just customize it to have more bluish tones since she's having a boy. I wanted to have pretty signs, candy, and food. You know a "Martha Stewart" baby shower; however, I'm not the only host. There is another's input on things, and that's the other co-host, bff's baby sister. She wanted a "jungle" theme. I tried to steer her away with cutesy monogrammed invites and the cute brown/blues....to no avail, I must admit. She was stuck on the jungle theme. And, well, if we're going "theme", Party City was in order. I am BROKE. I mean broke with a capital B, and I can't afford to customize stuff for that:( This jungle line is made by Fisher Price. Here's what I got:
Anddddd, the theme STOPS there. I just couldn't do it anymore. It's not a freaking birthday party. Sheesh. I got these cups, because I love the pattern. I thought they went with color scheme nicely.
These plates:
These napkins:

What are your thoughts on favors? Do you all actually do favors at showers??? And, what about prizes for the games...what do y'all do for those?

**And wish me luck! Right about now, Open House starts at my school. Did I tell y'all my kids nicknamed me General and Captain Belle...guess they think I run my classroom military style. Tonight should be interesting.

Smiles at you, and a good luck hug for the week!

Very cute!
As for favors I think they are left to kids parties.

dollar store lotions, loofahs, headbands, etc are good favors/ prizes. also the $1 bin at target might have some cute stuff! maybe bubbles? that would make for a fun photoshoot.

How cute!! I agree, there's only so much of a theme you can stick with before it starts to be overkill.

oh goodness I am with you on "themes" and having to co-host can often be really difficult when your styles clash. I have a lady who does iced sugar cookies that are just gorgeous and delicious and that is my go to. as far as giveaways I usually do one "game" I am not a fan of silly games and I giveaway a manicure it always is a big hit!

I agree- the jungle stuff is cute, but it seems like more of a child's birthday party theme, not for a baby shower! Good for you for meeting in the middle though :)

I don't think you need favors unless you do like the striped suckers. They would kind of match the jungle theme. A good gift (decoration) would be the Wubanub's. Its a stuffed animal with a pacifier attached. I had a baby in May and she LOVES her giraffe!

Super cute theme and lots of fun details. I love all the creative ideas you put together. I am completely inspired! Thanks for sharing!

I agree. You don't need favors because it isn’t a child’s birthday party. Being included in the festivities should be enough for everyone. The decorations that you bought are adorable. Good luck with everything!!!

so I am a new follower but being a new-ish mom and having so many of my friends having baby after baby right now it seems baby showers are coming around about as often as our sunday bbq's.

what you have for your party looks perfect for her jungle theme wishes! co-hosts can be hard to work with and being new to the blog i know little about family relations but what about asking your mom to co-host the baby shower? if she knows your friend it would be a good way to include her. if you aren't on good terms then just ignore my comment all together :)

as for favors, there were none. at one party they blindfolded me and had me reach in a bag/box and pull out a baby item to identify. it was a fun way to pass the time...

best of luck!
