Official First Day

My first day went great!!! All the teachers are SUPER nice, and it was a good day other than the ugly fever blister I had on my lip. Ugh! I haven't gotten one of those in like 3 years or so. And, guess what? They are EMBARRASSING and SUCK! Gaw, at least the kids aren't there this week to point it out. Sheesh! Anyways........I moved all the furniture (desks, cabinets, tables, etc.) myself and put up my bulletin boards.

I have one bulletin board that is red with  black/white zebra border for our calendar. I plan on writing when things are due on it, and I wanted to make it fun.

On the other bulletin border, it's white with THE CUTEST cupcake border I found. I figured even big kids like to have their birthdays remembered. I figure I could put their bdays on the board each month and get some $1 bday cards at Target to give them. That way they could have a little something on their birthday from me:)
And aside from all the typical English posters,I bought this one which I thought was pretty cute!  If y'all have any other decorating or any necessities you think I might need, please feel more than free to leave me a comment!

Yay for my first day:) I might not be so happy in the weeks to come. Haha! And, I'm going to start doing a Wedding Wednesday post on the first Wednesday of the month which means it starts this Wednesday. Since DON is requesting, I figure it's time to start:)

You're going to be a wonderful teacher!

If you're still looking for any ideas, my favorite English teacher had us do 'free' write for 5-8 minutes every class - sometimes in the beginning, middle or end, mixed it up. We could write about anything we wanted, but the rule was your pen had to be moving. Didn't matter what you wrote about or if it was good/bad/etc. Sometimes she did ask us to do them on what we were reading actually on second though. It was great because I really learned how to just write through "writers block" and even got some great essay ideas. It led to doing a lot of in class essays which are great college prep!

I loved English class, can you tell? :)
