Owe my Soul

Seriously, I feel lately I'm robbing Peter to pay Paul. I CANNOT put anything else on my c/c. I've put school stuff on there which cost me a small fortune. Literally, the only thing I've spent on myself that wasn't "needed" was that darn dress. And, I [insert bratty, spoiled voice here] deserve that dress!!! My work is behind a paycheck, and it doesn't catch up until this summer evidently. So, I've had one paycheck this month, and it's only for two weeks. I don't get paid again until the 15th. Talk about budgeting!!!!!  Double whammy is due to the first year and trying to research activities, grade papers, do lesson plans, etc., I have had to cut down to one night at my second job. So, I'm losing out on dollarzzzzz I'm used to having. Ugh! I have only paid the minimum payments on things, and I owe LC $400. I won't get him paid back in full until the end of October. Did I tell you I am B-R-O-K-E?!?!?!? Fa sho. I'm not able to throw BFF's shower the way I wanted to, I can't go on my other bestie's 30th bday trip, nor can I put the deposit down on my dress:( All my extra money this month went to the baby shower and what school stuff I could pay for in cash. I owe my soul to everyone right now. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was it like this for any of you new teachers???

Thanks for letting me vent;)

Oh, I'm so sorry honey! I think it's absolutely ridiculous that they are behind one paycheck. What is the logic in that?! I think it's criminal how little teachers are paid (my SIL is a teacher). Maybe you should set up a blog donation button for your classroom - I'd contribute! I just don't think it's fair that teachers are paid what they are, and then are expected to outfit so much of their class supplies as well!

Oh honey! I know how you feel! I swear I have been making these HUGE payments on my c/c, but it never goes down. I feel the same way...only it's school books and stuff like that. I feel like I was so extravagant this month because I bought that dress for our engagements...but I NEEDED that! (insert the whiney bratty voice there too). It is so tough dealing with money! There is never enough!

Here are two verses that will hopefully give you some peace about this tonight...
And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
1 Chronicles 28:20

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

I love you friend!

Girl, that is SO tough... especially since the school is a check behind. That sucks.

Hang in there girl!

I.hear.that. While I am not a teacher, I am on a teacher's budget, maybe even less. I've stupidly run up ahem a few ahem credit cards on clothes that were probably in style for one season and never worn again. I could not even IMAGINE trying to plan a wedding right now so kudos to you. I'm sure things will all settle down and even out soon :)

I am not a teacher but I am right there in the boat with you girlfriend. I decided that I was done with taking out student loans (I only have 2 semesters left of school until I graduate in May 2011) so I have had to pay my tutiton, I had to buy my girlfriend a bridal shower gift this month, I have a car payment/ car insurance, c/c bills, I am broke as well, and it is ALWAYS when you have a million things you need to SAVE for......it is likely it wil be a Hard Candy Christmas for me hahaha Hang in there! Ive been digging into savings (I HATE THAT!!!) start saving every dime you can out of those pay checks and budget, budget, budget....it may take longer than you like but you'll bounce back!!

When I first started my job two years ago (not a teacher, even!) we got paid on the first of every month. I had to wait over a month and a half after I started my job to actually get a decent paycheck! I ended up charging a lot. It took a couple of months to catch up!! I can't even imagine needing to also get things for a classroom!! So don't feel guilty! :)

Oh goodness! Lots going on. You can do it!

Gosh, that is tough. But don't worry... you will catch up in a month. I feel you. Right now I am preggo and can't work. Living off just the hubby's income has been miserable! But I keep telling myself "just a few more months and everything will be fine." And it will all be worth it.

I feel the exact same way! I'm newly engaged, and a first year teacher, and have no idea how to afford all of the expenses of being a new teacher. :-/

Teachers just dont get enough for what they supply for their kids and classrooms! Not fair. Hang in there girl...

YES!! When I first started teaching, allllll my money went towards my classroom. You have to in order to teach effectivly. Plus you want your kids to like your classroom! Hang in there, a lot of stuff lasts a long time so you won't have to spend as much each year.

My first teaching job had the delayed check and then to make it worse, we were paid our last like 3 or 4 paychecks for the summer over the course of 3 or 4 consecutive days and then I had to budget it to last the summer! At my current job I got paid the full check at the end of the first week!

I feel for you on the money spent for school stuff. It's ridiculous the lack of money we get to run a classroom. I swore that I won't do it this year because with my husband not having a job, I'm not putting my money into school. So far it's working, but I also inherited a lot of stuff from a retired teacher. It will get better!

my first year I spent almost $2000 on school stuff. yes that number is correct. I was teaching preschool and I needed toys.

Belle-

I've notice at Target, in the "bargain" bins at the front of the store, there are tons of teaching supplies. I've also noticed they have lots at Michaels and even Sam's Club... I plan on doing an alternative certification program next school year so I've started picking a few things up here and there. If you tell us what you need, I will gladly donate to you and your classroom!!
