What's in a name????

So, today was the first day that I actually had all my kids. Hallelujah!!!! Our schedules are done, and now, it's on to the learning process.  Whilst, the next couple of days are a wash as far as that goes, I still wanted to incorporate English into my activity. Today, I had my students write something that describes themselves. I had them to write their names like this:

B
E
L
L
E

Then, I had them to fill in their name using descriptive words or phrases that would describe themselves. Such as:

Believable
Encouraging
Left-handed
Likeable
Entertaining
(Not one of my students' papers; picture is from google image)

If the kids got stuck, they had to go get a dictionary, and of course, I helped them. They did such a great job and were so creative. It really helped me to get to know them a little better!

I promise the next post will NOT be about school:)

Great activity for them and a good way to incorporate agjectives AND a way for them to feel good about themselves by thinking something positive that describes them, that is if they chose something positive haha. Love reading about your school days, I say there is never a dull moment and something new happens every day!
