Wedding Wednesday...

Today, I'm thinking dresses! Dresses, dresses, dresses are on the brain. I'm still not sure if I want to do a knee-length dress or a floor length. Decisions, Decisions. However, this is still a ton of time, so no rush! My bridesmaids are all different shapes and sizes, so I wanted to find a fit that would flatter all of them. These are just some ideas I have floating around in my head:

I found this pic on the net, and I don't know who makes it. If you do, please let me know:)
 David's Bridal
Watters and Watters 7237

Belsoie-This is the one I have really been leaning towards. It's a deep, rich espresso color, and I would order it in an iridescent chiffon which would keep it from being so drab. My MOH actually picked this out while we were dress shopping. I like it because it has straps, empire waist, and it's really pretty in person.

The more I've looked at dresses in person, I don't want to do taffeta. The problem with brown and taffeta is that if it's not the correct shade, you end up looking like a shiny, 1980s wanna be prom queen. And, I find because of brown, that satin is just kinda blah. I'm really leaning towards chiffon. It will pick up light if it's the right shade, but it's still subtle.

Just so you know, my wedding theme is old southern. My dress is very antique, vintage looking (think Victorian possibly) and the boys are going to be in tuxedos. Our wedding is taking place at my church which is an old, Catholic church with huge windows, gothic ceilings, tall columns, statues, etc. Then, our reception is taking place at an old mansion. So with that being said, I don't want dresses that are too trendy which is a big reason why I don't want to do the one shoulder, and I'm trying to stay away from strapless.

Our big day is a night wedding. Ceremony will probably start around 6:30 (full mass-don't hate me!) which will push the reception starting at 8ish. I'm thinking we should do long dresses. Thoughts?? Also, these are just ideas of dresses. Do you have any suggestions or a favorite from this post? I'd love to hear your thoughts:)

Were you asking about the top dress? It's by JS Boutique and it's at Nordstrom.

It's one of the dresses I thought about for the military ball.

I love the bottom dress the best.

I love LOVE the color you are looking at!!! And I think that Bari Jay one would be perfect on completing all figures. May I also suggest Lula Kate...though her collection may not be as formal, but you are able to pick out a color and then the girls can pick out a shape that flatters them the most.

I would lean towards shorter, tea length dresses. I've always liked those and I think they would be more old southern. Love your theme btw. And go for the full mass! Thats what Im gonna do that when I get married.

I'm a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding in May and our dresses are very similar to what you're looking for! Chiffon and flattering to all sizes. Our dress is by Amsale and it comes in long or short!

Here is a link to my post about it..http://friedgreenpickles.blogspot.com/2010/09/basket-case-of-emotions.html

I like the empire waist dress. I'm picturing a Pride & Prejudice type dress and I think it will be beautiful.

And, as far as the full Mass, I say if that's what you want, do it. We were married in a Catholic church because my husband is Catholic and I wasn't at the time so we only had a liturgy. I had always wanted/planned to have communion at my wedding and it still disappoints me to this day (two years later) that we didn't. :(

I really love the Belsoie dress as well - it looks so pretty! My SIL went with brown dresses, and they looked really great (although hers were more trendy).

I love short dresses, but we're having a day wedding, so it fit. I like the longer look for night weddings. Have you decided on a date? If so I missed it :(

I like 1,3, and the one your MOH liked. Guess I could have narrowed it down. Evening usually makes me think long dress but I think brown means it is okay to have a shorter dress. One of the sites I've been looking at that I love is priscilla of boston. Also love this one but with a halter it is def a little more trendy http://www.jlmcouture.com/Jim-Hjelm-Occasions/Bridesmaid/Fall/2010/Style-5050

I do like long dresses for later weddings. So I like the first one.

I think the Bari Jay and the Belsoie look like they would be beautiful with the wedding dress you are describing!

Honestly because of the time of your wedding I think the dresses need to be long. Especially because of the tone you hope to set. Amsale definitely has some gorgeous classic styles available both short and long. Jim Hjelm is another good one for long and short offerings as well as an extensive selection of chiffon colors. There is a line called Jordan bridesmaids that is similar to Jim Hjelm and slighly less expensive. David's Bridal is not great for customer service but if your girls are on budgets then it's a great way to go for an affordable pretty gown. I've always liked the Bari Jay look but sometimes the quality is not so great. If your bridesmaids haven't been bridesmaids before it's extremely important to forewarn them that ALL of these lines run smaller than street clothes, especially Jim Hjelm, if they wear a size 6 normally then they are going to probably have to order a size 10, and it's going to fit. With the empire style it makes this a little easier, the measurement that will be most important is the bust measurement.
OK sorry for the book just sharing the knowledge I have.
