Super Sadz :(

Ok, after The Dirty Martini informed me on twitter yesterday about the closing of Borders, I about had a breakdown. Y'all I graduated with an English Lit major with a concentration on Brit Lit. I still have not caved and ordered an electronic reader. I like the feel of paper and the pages in between my fingers, and the feel of the cover of a book. Sorry, I just couldn't succumb...

That is until now. You see, the reason why I loved Borders so much was that they always had great coupons. You didn't have to pay to be a member. The other retail giant B&N gives better coupons to members, but they are not as good as my beloved Borders. Borders had even started their own membership club. However, when being a BordersPlus member at Borders, you received free shipping no matter the total of the sale. I didn't have to spend 25 bucks or whatever it is at B&N. Oh well, looks like I'll be putting an electronic reader on my list now. I swear I wouldn't, but I can't afford to constantly paying full price for books.

So today, I am sad. I will have to stop by my local Borders store and pick up some books. Hopefully, they'll have some good closeout sales. So sadz:(

I am right there with ya! I was a huge Borders fan, mainly because of the coupons and the borders rewards (that you did not have to pay for...)

The one by me started markdowns about 3-4 months ago and has been closed for about a month now :(

I was a HUGE Borders fan and when I was little I had a book club meet there over the summer so it will always have a special place in my heart.
As a fellow English Lit major (A Brit concentration too 18th/19th cent is my favorite) I am also not a hug fan of e-readers but my Mom has a nook and loves it.

It is sad. When my Borders closed I started getting my books on Amazon. I like feel of "old fashioned" books between my fingers and being able to gage how much I have left in the book.

I am completely and totally distressed about it, the company headquarters is less than an hour away and we always loved shopping there.

And like you, any time a book store closes I am sad.

I didn't know that's what your degree was in! Me too!

I have to have real books too - I find a lot of good ones on Amazon for a really low price. They'll also give you a free Prime account (free shipping or $1-2 shipping) if you're an educator or a student!
