About Me

Untitled #11

C'est Moi:

My name is Jennifer, and I'm a southern girl just trying to make it in this big world. I love all things pink, preppy, pugs, peonies, ruffles, glittery, pearls, anything Southern, seersucker, antiques, heirlooms, monograms, and Lilly Pulitzer. I have a fondness for the Brits---give me old school Brit Lit (the stuff you hated in high school and college) and Downton Abbey, and I'm a happy girl. For some reason, I love the tragic: Anna Karenina and Wuthering Heights are my favorite books.  I have an eye for fashion and have been describe as preppy with an edge. I am a typical pisces which loves the arts, helping others, fashion, and all things creative. I'm a daughter, wife, Junior Leaguer, friend, godmother, converted Catholic, member of the DAR, daughter-in-law, hopefully---one day a mother, and a teacher. I still love to send handwritten notes, albeit a thank you or a simple hello, which I think is becoming a lost art.

The Blog:

Southern Belle was established in 2008 as an outlet for me to gush and write about my now husband aka LC. We had just begun dating, and I was sure my girlfriends (all were single at the time) were tired of hearing about him and how awesome he was. It evolved from my dating adventures with LC, to buying our first house, to leaving my first big girl job post graduate school, taking a leap of faith to become a teacher, to planning our wedding, and now, trying to have our first child with a little, okay, a lot of fashion, mishaps, and my love for pugs all mixed in. I like to think every day girls can relate to me. I'm not a "fashion" blogger. I'm not a rich girl. I'm not a size 2. I'm just me, and I'm okay with that:)

Hi Jennifer! I'm visiting from the Memphis Bloggers group on FB! It's nice to "meet" you! When reading this, I was nodding my head right along...monograms, Wuthering Heights, Downton Abbey...all my favorites! Anyway, I hope to meet you at the next meetup! Take care, Cameron {The Stimson Chronicles}

Hi Jennifer! Your blog is so cute! I think I love it so much because a little part of me always wanted to be a southern belle even though I'm from Maine. Someday, I would love to move to a small southern seaside town to settle down. I'm only 21 now though, so there are more adventures to be has before I do that.
Actually though, I'm kind of on an adventure now and was hoping you might help me out in small way. For my capstone class, which is really a culmination of all four of my years at Ithaca College, we are working on a project that we will present in NYC this spring in the hope that it is selected to be an actual national advertising campaign. It's a really exciting opportunity and I would love it if you could help us by taking a 3 minute survey and maybe even posting it or asking your southern friends to take it as well.
I would really appreciate it!
Thank you so much and good luck with all that you do. God bless.

Hi Jennifer! So happy that I happened past your blog. It is such a relief to know that I am not the only one who gushes about their boyfriend to their friends. I was born and raised briefly in Jackson, TN and love all things southern as well. Look forward to reading along with the rest of southern followers!
