Have you ever noticed sometimes it's the little things that make your memory go adrift....
One of my favorite quotes which I have on my sidebar is from my favorite singer/songwriter. Here goes:
"It's just kind of about being away from home for a long time, being busy, then coming home, sitting down, having everything come to a halt and wondering what to do next. When you become really occupied, there are so many things that happen to you, so many great moments, nights out with your friends, that just slip through the cracks, that you don't remember. And then you'll run into that person, and it'll hit you all at once, the memory of that happy time which was lost in the filing cabinet of your brain. And that feeling you get when you remember, it is so great." ~Pete Yorn (about his song Come Back Home)
Today is Paisley and Pearls' birthday. So, go say Happy Birthday to her!!! But, what sparked my memory was when someone said she was turning 22. It made me think back many moons and suns ago when I was 22. And, I must say that 22 was a FABULOUS year. But, the thing that I remember most about 22 was my surprise birthday party thrown by the bff. My birthday always fell on spring break, and everyone was either too broke from the semester or not in town because of spring break. And sadly, my birthday was all too often forgotten or not celebrated like I would have liked to. On my 22nd birthday, everyone was SO busy. I was kind of bummed that the only person who was able to celebrate my bday was my bff. See when you're young and in college, you have a ton of friends. All of you have the same things in common: having fun, going out, eating krystals at 4am
or if like us you learned that it was quicker to pop a $1 totino*s pizza in the oven than to wait in the krystals line because it was ridic long or because someone had fallen asleep at the wheel in waiting in said line, and hating school. So, the bff and I made plans to just go to one of our nearby college hangouts and hang out for the night. When, I walked in the door, all I heard was SURPRISE!!! There were so many people in the bar that it was hard to even move, and these were all MY friends. My bff had called everyone and planned the whole thing. Honestly, I had NO idea, not even an inkling at all. It was so much fun to have all my friends in one place. The drinks kept flowing and the music kept playing for what seemed like an eternity. Now...I have no idea where most of these people are. I do still have my good friends that I keep up with. And, one saying that I find so true is, as you get older you find that you couldn't count all your good friends on two hands in college, but after college, you find you can only count your good friends on one hand. However, I have never forgotten that birthday, and while many others were fun, actually all have been fun, that is the one that sticks out in my mind the most. It was a time when responsibility was just a scary word, having a good time was the first priority, and time wasn't of the essence. It seemed as if time just stood still for awhile. Now, after college and grad school, time passes by faster than I can count, and all too often, the fun nights slip through the cracks. But, when I do remember them, it feels so great......

Happy Birthday, Paisley and Pearls! So thoughtful.
Has your friend found out the sex of her baby yet?
Yeah, we'll all have to do a post once our sandals get in. It will be interesting to see if we all get them around the same time too. :)
ahhh 22... wow geez I feel like a geriatric!
Thanks for saving my day on the button business Southern Belle! Maybe I just can't see it myself but if it works for everyone else, that's just FAAAAABULOUS!!
So true about the number of good friends in college vs. after college! You def find out who your true friends are...and it is interesting who you stay in touch with.
very sentimental and sweet...
