Show Your Face

This comment was in response to my post from yesterday.

If you think I'm not going to post your snide, anonymous comment, think again. And to answer your question, NO! Teaching at a public school isn't ghetto. Obviously, you are not a teacher; otherwise, you'd know using a glue gun to hang things is the norm. Teaching at a public school means that we don't always get "donations" and money other than government money. We are on a budget, and I'm allotted a certain amount to spend on my classroom. When that amount is gone, I use my own money. I use MY OWN money to help my kids learn. What do you do other than hide behind the word anonymous? I grew up going to a private school. I didn't have a public school education. But you know what, there isn't a damn thing wrong with public school. For some kids, this is the only place they get a meal, a warm and/or cool place to stay for 8 hours, people who care, and a safe place. So you know what, you can get over yourself.

My blog is in a public forum. I realize this means that other people are entitled to their own opinions, and I put it all out here for public commenting. However, that doesn't mean that I'm not going to respond. Because, I WILL.

Also, why don't you show your face? Why don't you use your real user name? Because it's people like you who hide and lurk behind the HTML code of the internet choosing to voice their opinion behind the "safe" mask of anonymous posting. Why don't you grow a pair and let me know who you are. Because, quite frankly, anonymous posting is for cowards and stalkers.

Wow, I can't believe somebody left a comment like that! That person is very ignorant. I don't understand the purpose of those types of comments especially if the person is Anonymous. I agree that anonymous commenting is for cowards.

WOOOOOOOOOW. Anonymous seriously needs to grow a pair.

You go girl! If they think it is so ghetto maybe they should make a donation to their local public school!

Ugh - I cannot stand anonymous comments or the people who leave them. Ridiculous.

And thank you for all the things you do as a teacher!

I don't post enough to get any of those terrible anonymous commenters, but this just reminds me of what a friend told me when a close relative was bullying me during my wedding planning: it's about THEM, not you. There's clearly something lacking in that person's life, otherwise he/she would not spend his/her precious time on earth writing terrible anonymous comments.

My husband and I went to public school, we have public school friends that are teachers ---- it's a blessing!!! We loved our education and our teachers. :)

You tell 'em!!! I grew up going to public school and I thought their was nothing wrong with it! I loved it!

You tell that anonymous blogger! It blows my mind how close-minded some people can be!

Couldn't of said it any better. You go girl. Seriously. SO sick of ppl writing crap! I spent over $900 bucks last year on classroom "stuff" I teach art so that can only give you an indication of what I was buying and the cost of "art supplies" I did away with anonymous comments a few months ago. Now only people WITH GOOGLE accounts can comment, forcing them to Show their faces/and or names!

as a public educator i to am offended!

haters are gonna hate, always have, always will.

you are fabulous & as matt damon recently said "why would they choose a shi^#y salary, spend extra hours doing this job? because it's their passion & they deserve more"

Good for you! I'm also a public school teacher and although I'm still new, I am fully aware of the amount of my own money I will need to use in order to give my students the best that they deserve. Students are students no matter where the school is located, and they deserve just as much as private school kids do. Have a wonderful new school year!

WOW! You go girl! I hat anonymous online drama. Public schools are amazing and I went to public school for most of my life and I am fine and going to a top PUBLIC university. I hope you have a great school year and have fun decorating your classroom.

Amen! I'm a public school teacher and have spent $200 of MY OWN MONEY getting ready for the kids to come! I'm scared to add up what I spent last year, well over $1,000 I'm sure, because we get zero dollars from the state and very little from the parents of the kids in our classes. I would love for 'anonymous' to come spend a day in our shoes. xoxo

I teach in a public school and I use a hot glue gun! I have friends that teach in private schools that also hang things with hot glue guns. NOT GHETTO at all!! I have anonymous commenting turned off on my blog for that very reason.

Amen sister! This comment was extremely offensive and shame on them for posting it and not even having the guts to show their face. I am getting my license and intend to work in a public school. I'm currently an EA at a Charter school and I see how hard those teachers work and how much of their own money they pour into their classrooms because they care for their students so much. This comment is pure ignorance...

Good for you for writing back! It burns me up to hear people bashing public schools. Yes, there are problems, but we work as hard as we can and the teachers are nothing but dedicated and giving. I'd love for this person to try to defend their statement now!

Such idiots in the world. Glad you said something, and cheers to you for being an amazing educator. You definitely deserve so much more than what teachers are offered.

Mrs Nautical Belle said...

Agreed! So glad you called this person out. Honestly I don't think some people have anything better to do.

Anonymous-teaching is a REAL job. Anonymous posting is not. If you have a problem and are too scared to post publicly, why don't you grow a pair and email me.

Dear Anonymous,
I teach at a public school in a severely low income area. I also hang things with a glue gun so I guess YOU, bless your ignorant little heart by the way, would consider me to have "a double dose of ghetto". For many of my kids, school is a safe place for them because what goes on in their homes would make you sick. I've spent $500 of my own money so far this year, and my kids don't report for another 2 weeks. I love my job and I do what I can for my kids. They leave my classroom each year knowing that I love them and believe in them. The growth that I see in them from the beginning to end of each year is tremendous. If your child ended up in my classroom, I would give that child my all as I do for each of my students.

High Five!

I've had some really horrible comments on my blog from Anonymous and its horrible!

Megan said...

I also wanted to add something we talked about during inservices last week. Without teachers no other occupations are possible. Anoymous, obviously you have what you would consider a real job. Would you be able to do that job if a teacher hadn't taught you to read, write, add and subtract? I don't think so.

I hate anonymous commenters! I've shut that option down!

I work at a public university and there is NOTHING wrong with a public education- they need to get a life!!!
