Fifty Shades...

has me fifty shades of @#$^$*! up. You know I'm not gonna lie. When I finished the third book on Monday night, I was actually kind of sad the series was over. In fact, I've gone back and read the books for a second time which is kind of unusual for me. I'll admit the writing is terrible, there are quite a few spelling/punctuation type errors, but I fell in love with Christian Grey throughout the books. He's honest, vulnerable, overbearing, and has issues. Heck, who doesn't have issues? His character really grabbed me in a way a character hasn't for a long time. I think as women we want to help, nurture, and care for the ones we love. I think that's what attracted me to Grey. He was in need of all of those things.

And to be honest,  Grey is giving our husbands a run for their money. I mean when you think about it...I don't think it really comes down to the "dirty" stuff. I think what it comes down to is women want to feel like their husbands cherish them. Jenny from TheSuburbanJungle.com said they want to know their husbands still love them and think they're beautiful even if they've been together one year or twenty years. It's about the spark. We want a man who can't keep his eyes off of us, makes sure we're safe and well-fed, blissfully happy, and sporting the latest fashions. You know the man who's unbelievably dark, handsome, and mysterious (think Christian Bale) with Mark Zuckerberg's bank account. Quite frankly, I've been wasting my nights away reading these books and getting a little short-tempered with my husband because I feel he's not meeting up to the standard that Grey has set in my mind. I had to take a step back and think Christian Grey doesn't exist; he's a figment of my imagination. He's not a real person. ha!

I would recommend these books if you're looking for a little guilty pleasure reading :) and if you're not looking for some kind of profound, enlightening writing.

Move over, Mr. Darcy. There's a new man in town, Grey. Christian Grey...

I reread them again too. It's like I read them so fast, I couldn't put them down, then there was a void there where they had been. After I had read them the second time though, I didn't feel that way.

I didn't think the writing was great, and I didn't care one way or the other about the "dirty" stuff, but I loved the story and I fell in love with Christian Grey too. ( Christian Bale is definitely my Christian Grey)

I even liked and understood Ana, and I find it hard to like most female characters, I hope that doesn't make me sound bad.

So funny! I started the series Monday night/Tuesday morning, and just downloaded the 3rd book today. They are so addictive. My husband thinks I haven't done anything but read the last 3 days now that school is out. Hope you are having a good summer!

Very well put! I finished the 50 shades series over the weekend myself and like you, felt a little sad! My husband and I were talking about my birthday coming up and I considered asking for an Audi R8, haha ;) Then I realized, oh yeah...we don't have Christian's money.

I think you hit this spot on when you say that women want their husbands to cherish them. That is what I loved about the book..the way he took care of her and loved her so much. What girl wouldn't want that? I think I've been a little hard on my boyfriend since reading these too. Like I am expecting him to be more attentive. I think I'm going to need to re-read these!

I'm probably not going to read the series but only because when I read a book or watch a movie that is already so hyped up, I never like it. Never lives up to the hype for me. But love that you loved the series so much. I need to find a good mindless page turner series now that summer is here and I have a bit more down time.

Thank you for your sweet comment today! That means a lot to me.
