Lilly Questions

I have a question to ask you ladies. I love Lilly. I normally buy empire waist dresses such as the Betsey or Gweneth; because I KNOW they will fit. I absolutely love the shifts and other styles too. However, I have an hourglass frame. The hips are always a tad to tight so I need to go a size up of course. However, then it is too big up top. Do you all get them altered, or what? Although, I'm sure some of you are skinny minnies and need no alterations at all=) I,on the other hand, have the gift that God gave JLo. Tehe! Just wondering if y'all could help a girl out=)

And another, can somebody help me add the Lilly blog to my blog reading list. I use their URL but for some reason it won't load. It keeps saying that there is no URL to feed:(

Oooo, that green dress is really cute! I wish I could help you out, but God didn't bless me at all...I always describe myself as a 2x4 - flat on all four sides! Ick. But I love your dress choices!!

I have the same problem girl!!! The shifts are always a tad tight in the bottom on me and fit in the top. If I go up, I have to get them altered. I actually am about to spend a fortune at my seamstress to get about 5 or 6 various items taken in in the top so that the bottom will fit. I only have 2 Lilly shifts and they both are tight in the bottom and my BFF assured me they look fine. However, the next shift I get I am planning on going one size up and getting it altered! I don't know if you have any of the capris, but they run tight in the bottom too. I have to go one size up on all shorts, capris, and pants, but skirts are fine! Who knew!

I am the same as Jennifer. I take almost all of my dresses to the tailor because I vary in sizes so much!! Lilly dresses are usually pretty easy to alter, esp the shift dresses! I have a couple and love them, but if I had ordered true to size they would have never fit around the bottom!!

Good luck!

The green dress is absolutely stunning on everyone. It looks gorgeous on everyone, so my vote is definitely for that one. However, the great thing about the pink one is a thin rubber lining that helps to hold it up!

i get them tailored-from someone i really trust-nothings worse than a ruined lily. but nothings better than a perfect lily either!

Fortunately we haven't had a serious issue yet! But of far more importance is the vote! We pick the green!

I think the Sailor's got the right idea with tailoring. It's usually pretty cheap, and then it looks like it's MADE for you!

I have the same problem, and I work for Lilly so being around all the pretty shifts all day doesn't help! I usually just stick to styles that look good on me, such as the Betsey dress. Extensive alterations get very expensive. It really helps my bank account though when I try on a dress that just doesn't fit me well (although there are plenty that do!).

i have the same problem! I am a 4 on top, and even on the bottom with aline, but with straight or shift dresses, my hips need room. I hate sizing up too! I just picked up an awesome green lacy Lilly dress at TjMaxx for 10.00!!! Way marked down.

I have never understood the liquor/wine/beer sales thing here. You can't sell one in the same place as another? makes no sense.

I feel your pain with the dress situation. I am the same - hips, nothing up top. Size 2 on top, Size...well, not 2, on bottom.

The green dress is cute. I have the same problem where the waist is too big but too tight in my butt. Shopping and I have a love/Hate relationship because I love to shop but it is hard finding clothes that fit right.
