Would this work for a formal wedding???

Ok ladies, I need some H.E.L.P. I am going to one of mine and LC's very good friend's wedding this Summer. Now mind you, it's August 1st in Georgia. August in Georgia is ridiculously hot. I received my invitation this weekend, and it is black tie. LC and I are looking at houses, and I'm trying to not spend as much. I have this dress below in my closet with the tags still attached. It's the Lilly Pulitzer Betsey dress in Vanilla Got It Made Brocade. From pictures on the website when it was ordered, it appeared to be a white/off white dress with white brocade or a light silver. However, when I actually got the dress, it is not at all like the color pictured. I included the whole dress along with the closeup of the fabric. I guess my question is, considering this is an evening black tie wedding, do you think this dress is appropriate? I'm only 5'3 so the dress is not short on me. I would love what y'all think and what suggestions you might have.

I think it totally works. It's a cocktail dress for all intents and purposes. The only thing I would suggest is because it has a white undertone--- to play up the gold in it. If that makes sense. It looks super cute!

I think it's totally fabulous & you shouldn't even question it! I love the gold - it makes it more evening/formal. Love it!

I love it and I think it totally works. Especially with how hot it will be - you will be happy that you wore that!

You're going to have a blast! :)

I'm having a black tie wedding in July in the South. Having been to a black tie wedding before (many actually), NO, this dress is not appropriate-it's strictly cocktail. You need something floor length. Sorry, but I'd rather you know than be embarassed!

I have been to quite a few GA evening weddings. Everyone at the weddings I have been to have worn shorter length dresses like this.

I love that dress! Totally cute! It is definitely formal enough for a wedding because of the gold and the detailing. It also is very cute and classy! Have fun!

Where is the wedding? Is it outdoors or indoors? Every formal wedding I have ever been to in Georgia has been cocktail attire-especially in the summer. It is so hot! I think this dress is perfect.

I can't imagine wearing a floor length gown to a wedding in the middle of summer in Georgia. This looks great, and will keep you cool. Who wants to be sweating in wedding photos? :)

I think it would be perfect for a formal wedding! It gets ridiculously hot here in August, so I think it would help to keep you cool.

Thanks so much for reading my blog! I'm loving my Lilly weekender and would highly recommend it. It's so cute in person!

I hope you're feeling better!

I think it is gorgeous I have a dress from black house white market with almost the same print that I wore to a wedding last summer in New Orleans, I received tons of compliments on it.

It is so pretty. It would work for formal and evening. Be glad it is short. My brother is getting married outside and I am wearing floor length bridesmaid dress. You are going to look great.

I think it's gorgeous and will be great. I've read that for women, black tie can be a cocktail length or a long formal dress. Picture yourself standing next to your date in this dress. Does it look like it "goes" with the formality of a tux? If yes (your dress definitely does), then I think it's perfect.

I think that would be perfect. Nothing's worse than sweating your makeup off at a wedding.

I think the dress is outstanding, especially if the wedding and/or reception is outside. The bow is fabulousness personified!

Glad you are feeling better Miss Belle,
