Too Harsh or Just Right?

So, my thoughts on this....you do the crime, you do the time.
"I did everything I was told to do, I thought I was being compliant," Lohan, 24, cried as she tried to explain that she didn't knowingly violate her probation in a DUI case by missing weekly alcohol-education classes. "I'm not taking this as a joke, it's my life and career. I don't want you to think I don't respect you and your terms."  (I say BS!)

I say FAIR. 90 days in rehab and 90 days in the slammer is perfectly justifiable. I say slammer comes first, rehab second. Sober her up in jail and clean her up in rehab. Just because she's a celebrity doesn't mean she's above the law. The verdict is FAIR.

So, do you think the verdict is fair? I'd love to hear your thoughts!!!

It's all an act, she's an actress afterall! 90 days in jail will amount to what 80 mins or something like that? Who knows, she bailed out on hearings, etc. I think someone needs to control her pain meds!

If it can happen to Paris and Kiefer, it can happen to LiLo. Sadly, I don't think she has hit rock bottom. Perhaps the hiatus from her family/mother and the rest of her pack of leeches will do her some good. I really hope she can turn her life around, but I'm not holding my breath.

I totally agree with you! Honestly, weekly alcohol education classes is a huge deal - how do you "accidentally" miss those? Or not know you have to go? It's a huge part of the terms and she violated it, like she has violated many other things. Maybe she'll get her life together now. She had such a good career when she was younger, it's a shame to see her lose it for all of this.

Absolutely FAIR! I agree you do the crime you pay the time. Just because she is a "celebrity" does not mean she can get away with it. What if she would have killed someone during her DUI...?... Throw her butt in the slammer! Tears will not make it better, honey! Whew that felt good. haha!

very fair. Personally, I think she deserves more time because she's been complacent the whole time!

VERY Fair!! She needs to clean up her act!

Totally justified, in my opinion. I'm over her excuses, and it seems the judge was too! Some days I think to myself how cool it would be to be a celebrity, and then I realize, my life is actually just peachy as it is. And less drama!

I think it's completely fair. She mocked the judge by not attending weekly classes. If it were a regular person, they would suffer the same consequences. ANd honestly, I think this should've happened sooner. SOMETHING has to wake her up. She's spiraling down a very dangerous path & sadly no one in her life can or will help.

Totally fair

That girl is a MESS!
Yeah jail's probably pretty scary but she needs to realize that she's messed up and is not above the law. Hopefully she will come away from this with her eyes open and turn herself around.

I agree. It was her responsibility to understand the terms of her probation. She's clearly thinking because of her :celebrity" the rules don't apply to her.

I think it's totally fair. I don't understand why celebrities think they are above the law, and they shouldn't have to go to jail because they're famous. They should be treated like everyone else. (PS- I found your blog the other day and it's adorable!!)

Absolutely fair. When you get court ordered classes, you go or suffer consequences. End of story.

I think its too little. Too late.

TOTALLY fair! I can't stand her and she can't just skate through all of her illegal activites with excuses all the dang time. Although I don't think rehab or jail will help this girl

Lindsey said...

100% fair. She is a total joke and doesnt think her actions have consequences. An example, "losing" her passport in France and missing her court date. This girl has more excuses for her behavior than anyone Ive ever met.

It's definitely fair. She showed nothing but disrespect for the law when she was partying in Cannes rather than attending her alcohol classes. Besides she would have already been in jail if she was a normal person

She's a hot mess - I hope this will help her clean her act up.

I'm with you - Fair!

I agree with you! I think it's totally fair. In fact, I think the verdict is even pretty lenient!

Sandra said...

Just Right. Finally, a judge who wasn't fooled by her "excuses". She has abused and used the system long enough. Maybe this will straighten her out . . . xoxo

Bummer Linds, but you do the crime, you do the time.

I am in LOVE with your header portrait...who did it for you? Mine is in desperate need of a fix. ☺

I TOTALLY agree. She should be treated no different than the rest of us would!!! Maybe this will be the wake-up call she needs!!!

I agree with you, she messed up! Missed to many meetings... I wonder how much time she will actually get...

I say it was fair. A normal person would have already faced a fail cell for those DUIs.

I thnk it's completely fair. I feel bad for her because I think she needs major help, but I see cases like this in court all the time. They don't involve celebrities, but I do see that the system practically bends over backwards to get people on track with their weekly alcohol classes, drug screens, etc.., and in many jurisidictions (can't speak for LA) and give numerous chances BEFORE they haul someone into court for a violation hearing. If one violates the terms of probation, then there needs to be a cost.

Totally fair.. she is a wreck!

fshnonmymind said...

How do you knowingly miss multiple weekly classes? Was she not there at sentencing when the judge told her what she needs to do?
The jail time is harsh, but if she decided to be non-compliant, then she needs to face the consequences. Hopefully, the time she serves will be a starting point for some kind of positive change, but who knows with her.

The Pink Chick said...

I agree with you! It is totally fair! The only down side is that she probably will never spend the full 90 days in jail. I'm not trying to be harsh, but it seems like she could use a scare as motivation to get her life back in control.

Fair! I can't wait for the mugshots!

caknitter said...

I completely agree with you.
She got what she deserved and even then, who knows if she will actually clean up after she serves time. She knew what she was doing while she thumbed her nose at the legal system and now she's paying for it. Then, there's her crazy father and mother, which do nothing to help her situation. Poor girl, she never had a chance with those two around.

All I know is, I would hate to be a judge. I agree that when you mess up and are sentenced, you need to take it VERY seriously, and missing probation hearings, substance abuse classes, or consuming even the tiniest bit of alcohol is a no-no. It's very strict because it has to be.

Classy Fab Sarah said...

I think she deserves everything she got and MORE. She's getting off easy in my opinion.

Piper Jacquelyn said...

I say send the little demon away. Not that I don't feel sorry for her, but people like this (esp. celebrities that get released after 20 minutes due to "crowding") need to be punished like the rest of us would. She'll be just fine - and probably will get more press because of it!

Tricia Loves Makeup said...

Totally Fair! Personally, I think she should do more.

Leelee said...

The poor girl obviously needs help and some sturdy boundaries before she totally spirals out of control...it is so fair and so necessary at this point if she is ever going to turn her life around....

I do not feel bad for this girl. Not one bit. Totally fair. AND, she's not even a good actress. I'll give her the Parent Trap. That's it.

Kassie said...

I think totally justified, and not only bc it irritates me that she thinks crying is going to do anything...we all know she's an actress after all! She thinks she was being targeted bc she's an actress, but I say she wouldn't have had so many chances if she wasn't one!

Paige said...

Ugh she is such a HOT MESS. Poor girl...some time in the slamma would do her well. Also, I left you a little something over on my blog :)

Anonymous said...

Completely fair, but she won't have to serve the whole time, they never do.

Totally agree!
